LOGOMACHY

Sticks and stones are no use here. An eight-letter word, though — that's artillery.

About this game

The last library is under siege. Ink-blot creatures are crawling across the great hall toward the Last Book, and the only weapon left on the premises is the alphabet.

LOGOMACHY (n., a war of words) is a word game welded to a wave defense. You hold a rack of nine letter tiles. Spell a real word — tap the tiles, or just type — and hit cast: every letter flies off as a projectile and hunts down the blots on its own. No aiming, ever. Your only weapon is vocabulary, and length is firepower: a three-letter word is a thrown pebble, an eight-letter word lands at ×5 damage and feels like ordnance.

How to play

  • Build words from your rack (3–9 letters). Keyboard: type letters, Enter casts, Backspace un-picks. Touch: tap tiles, tap CAST.
  • Letter damage follows tile values — E is cheap, Q is a cannonball — and the whole word is multiplied by its length.
  • The rare tiles are munitions: Q quakes everything nearby, Z chains lightning, X executes wounded blots, J pierces the whole line.
  • Vowel-starved? SWAP dumps the rack for a fresh nine (short cooldown).

The twist: every monster is carrying the letters it swallowed — you can read them right on its body. Kill it and the ink spills back into your bag. Your targets are your ammo economy, so you're always choosing between the easy kill and the one holding the Q. Watch out for Erasers, which blank your tiles, and the Censor, who redacts your rack mid-fight. Twelve waves, then the Redactor. Beat the book-burner and the Endless Appendix opens for the score chase.

There's a leaderboard for career score, a best-word-of-the-run record, and five badges — one of them is hidden, and the kind of person who reads italicized Latin will figure it out.

How it was made: this drop was conceived and written in one automated run — concept, copy and design by Claude Fable 5, the entire single-file implementation (canvas renderer, WebAudio synth, 105,145-word public-domain ENABLE dictionary inlined with a fixed-width binary search) built by Claude Opus 5 under Claude Code, then verified in a headless browser before publishing.

Broken level, soft-lock, wrong physics — the maker sees these.

Nothing broken so far. Suspicious, but we will take it.

What went wrong, and what were you doing when it did?

One line. “Level 3 soft-locks after the key.”

Optional, but a repro is a gift.
