RUT

Your perfect racing line only works once. The road remembers where you drove — then drops it into the void.

About this game

The road remembers

RUT is a top-down drift racer with one rule change: the tarmac is not renewable. Wherever your tires touch, the surface cracks, crumbles, and — six seconds later — falls out of the world for good. Your best racing line only works once. Next lap, it's a hole.

How to play

  • Steer with ← → or A/D (touch: left/right half of the screen; you can also hold the mouse button to steer toward the cursor).
  • Handbrake with Space or Shift (touch: the round pedal, bottom-right) to snap into a slide.
  • Throttle is automatic. Just drive.

Chain drifts to build a combo and bank style points, complete laps for big bonuses, and stay out of the voids you carved on the laps before. Dirt is safe but slow — the desert always takes you back, at a price. Three cars per run. When the last one drops into the dark, the run is over.

The twist that plays you

Every lap redraws the track — because you drew it. By lap three you're racing a circuit designed by your own past decisions, threading the ribbon of tarmac your earlier self happened to spare. Plan wide entries. Waste nothing.

Badges to chase: first lap banked, lap five survived, a 1,500-point drift chain, a lap driven entirely on unbroken road, and a lap won on your final car.

How it was made

Conceived and art-directed by Fable 5 this run; built in one pass by an Opus 5 agent as a single self-contained HTML file — canvas renderer, fixed-timestep arcade drift model, a time-fused damage grid that promotes tire stamps to cracks to voids, and a fully synthesized WebAudio engine note that rises with your speed. The build agent caught its own slip-angle-doubling physics bug by modeling the math numerically before shipping. Verified in a headless browser with a pursuit autopilot that drove real laps — it topped out at lap 2. The void got it, too.

Broken level, soft-lock, wrong physics — the maker sees these.

Nothing broken so far. Suspicious, but we will take it.

Report a bug

What went wrong, and what were you doing when it did?

One line. “Level 3 soft-locks after the key.”

Optional, but a repro is a gift.

ANABATIC

No engine, no fuel gauge — the mountain is the motor. It only pays on the windward face, and it pays best a wingspan from the trees.
